You need a title page.
You do not need an abstract for the paper.
You need an introductory paragraph.
This introductory paragraph should give a brief description of the topic and background information. YOU MUST CITE SOURCES for the information.
The next paragraph or two should explain how this is important to nursing. Imagine someone next to you asking "why?" and how you'd explain it to them. It is not enough to say "this is important to nursing." But, you can say that the topic of x is important to nursing because... (why is the outcome important? falls contribute to increased time in the acute care setting, increased costs, etc.; better patient satisfaction leads to increased reimbursement, etc.; decreased pain contributes to increased mobility, faster recovery, fewer pulmonary complications;) YOU MUST CITE SOURCES for the information you provide.
Then provide your PICOT questions.
Then include a short conclusion paragraph that SUMMARIZES the information for the reader. This should take up 2-3 pages (the whole paper, not the conclusion - the conclusion is one paragraph). If you have less than two pages, you might not have all of the information included.
USE APA FORMATTING - use the sample APA paper and your APA manual for guidance.
Be succinct, be scholarly, DO NOT USE FIRST PERSON (you should NOT say, "I chose this topic..." - no first person.
How many sources do you need? I would say that you need at least two
PICOT is an acronym used to help develop clinical research questions and guide you in your search for evidence:
P = Patient population
I = Intervention or issue of interest
C = Comparison of interventions or comparison of interests
O = Outcome
T = Time frame
The PICOT topics must be APPLICABLE TO NURSING, meaning that they involve a NURSING intervention. The prescription of medications is not a nursing intervention. PLEASE do not choose topics, such as medications, medical tests and procedures that nurses cannot influence. Keep it simple; it will make this assignment and the week 6 assignment so much easier. Here are some potential PICOT topics:

PICOT Question: Diabetes Management
Diabetes is a widespread chronic disease that affects more than 10% of the population in the United States (American Diabetes Association, 2018). Diabetes is a long-life disease that affects both children and adults. It claims over 150,000 each year. Persons suffering from diabetes either have high blood sugar level because there is low production of insulin in the body or the body cells do not utilize the produced insulin. Diabetes mellitus is in two forms namely: Type 1 diabetes mellitus which is caused by lack of insulin in the patient’s body. The loss of insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas causes the deficit. In most cases Type 1 diabetes is hereditary from the parents and it is mainly found in children. The other form of diabetes is Type 2 diabetes mellitus, it’s defined by the inability of bodily tissues to respond to insulin adequately, and it's often accompanied by insulin insufficiency. It is the most common type of diabetes. For patients to live a high-quality life and limit the risk of complications, proper diabetes treatment is necessary. The average diabetic patient, on the other hand, has little information of how to manage their illness. The paper aims to improve diabetes self-management skills for diabetic patients through diabetes education and training.

In patients with Type 2 diabetes, can weekly self-management training and education program in comparison to standard DSMT be more effective in diabetes self-management behavior and knowledge?
In the paper we will discuss about type 2 diabetes mellitus among adult patients. Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes in the world and is mainly found in adults. As stated above, type 2 diabetes is brought by the inability of tissues to respond to insulin adequately makes. Patients suffering from type 2 diabetes tend not to respond correctly to insulin and because of the cells inability to store insulin as energy it leads to high sugar build up in the blood. Diabetes type 2 happens gradually overtime and has no symptoms at first that is why in most cases diabetes type 2 is spotted when one is an adult. Type 2 diabetes increases as a person gets older especially at the age of 45 and above.
How can diabetes mellitus be managed? To control diabetes mellitus fully we must first train the patients where nurses are given the mandate to teach people with diabetes on how to manage their condition. The nurses teach them the following: The patients are taught how to handle insulin reaction, how to identify signs of high and low blood glucose and what to do if they occur, how to use glucose monitor to check glucose levels and how to change their health habits (it includes food choices and them doing exercises (Adrienneciletti, 2021). This education and training will help reduce diabetic cases because they patients can manage their conditions; patients need to follow this in their daily lives.
Which diabetes management method should be considered? Diabetes self-management education and training is a significant module of incorporated diabetes care is the continual practice of promoting the information, skill, and capacity required for pre-diabetes and diabetes self-care. It's a program in which patients are educated about diabetes and how to use self-management techniques to keep the diabetes under control (Hailu et al., 2019). What does DSMT entail? DSMT usually includes diabetes disease process and treatment such as; healthy lifestyle, detecting and treating diabetes complications and use of glucose monitoring tools. DSMT is more effective and it is highly recommended for patients who have diagnosed with diabetes.
What is the desired objective? The aim is to ensure that patients adhere to Diabetes self-management behavior and knowledge. If self-management education and training is offered and more appropriate intervention is introduced in order to control diabetes it will lead to improvement of patient’s behavior. Nurses as educators provide support to patients and this keep pushing the patients to observing what they have been taught on how to manage their conditions. Patients will start changing their lifestyle by eating health food and exercising. This will reduce severity of diabetes in their bodies.
How long does it take to manage Type 2 diabetes? There is no specific time frame that states when diabetes can be managed because diabetes type 2 is a long term condition. Patients need to regularly adjust their treatment plans to manage their condition. Patients must adhere to proper diet, exercises and medications on a daily basis.
