Evidence Based Practice in the Health Profession
COURSE OBJECTIVES
This course will provide students with the knowledge and skills to:
1. Differentiate between the characteristics of qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods, meta-analysis, and meta-synthesis methodologies.
2. Critically analyze research studies and evidence-based practice as they apply to the interdisciplinary health professions.
3. Appraise the scholarly value of facility-based initiatives to incorporate evidence-based practice into nursing.
4. Identify clinical, educational, administrative and legal practice problems which may be addressed through the use of evidence-based practice implementation.
5. Create and design a roll out process for initiation of discipline specific evidence-based practice problem.
6. Compare various statistical testing as appropriate choices for analysis of data results.
7. Develop a letter of inquiry based on the EBP project for potential underlying sources.
8. Evidence critical thinking skills in class discussion, written work, online assignments, and oral/visual/voice-enhanced presentations.
