session, and then click on “Join session”. These lectures will cover the slides and problem solutions posted on Blackboard. To maintain order during each lecture, keep your microphone muted except when speaking. The lectures will be recorded and made available within Blackboard Collaborate Ultra.
All homework will be done on the Pearson website. To familiarize yourself with the use of the online homework system, it is recommended that you do the Introduction to MasteringPhysics online homework assignment. Late homework will not be accepted.
All exams (3 midterms and 1 cumulative final) will be taken on Blackboard. Each exam has a 180-minute time limit (120 minutes for solving and 60 minutes for uploading photos of your solutions). Exams must be taken on the day that they are scheduled. They will be available starting at 12:01am on the day they are scheduled and must be completed within the time limit by 11:59pm that same day. Your work on each exam can be saved and resumed at any point until time has expired. However, the timer will continue to run if you leave an exam. Thus, you should not open an exam until you are ready to work on it without interruption until the time has expired. You must show all work on exams. Correct answers without sufficient justification will receive no credit. A missed exam results in a zero. There are no make-ups! Your lowest exam score will be dropped.
Lab: All labs will be done on Blackboard. We will begin each lab with a live session via Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. The lab session will include a brief introduction to the lab activity. (Ideally, the relevant lecture material will have already been covered in lecture. If this is not the case, then that material will be covered during the lab session.) After the introduction is complete, the lab session will end and you can work on the lab activity until the 11:59pm deadline. To join a scheduled lab session, open Blackboard Collaborate Ultra from inside the lab section of this course on Blackboard, select the appropriate session, and then click on “Join session”. You are expected to read the lab activity and relevant material from the textbook before joining the lab session. To maintain order during each lab session, keep your microphone muted except when speaking. The lab sessions will be recorded and made available within Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. Late labs will not be accepted. Your lowest lab score will be dropped.
