It is concerned with the physical efficiency of individual employees in the organization. Scientific management is a procedure that aims at the production of nonhuman technology exerting control over the workers in the organization. Organizations that use scientific management are hospitals, hotels and restaurants. Theory of Taylor explains that the rule of thumb is inefficient for it encourages the worker to control and initiate management in the organization (Oberoi, 2016). Therefore, the rule of thumb would not give the expected results in the industry. Taylor developed a scientific theory to replace the rule of thumb that was inefficient and unproductive in the industry. There are key principles of scientific management. They include the function of foremanship, use of standards acts of workers, use of equipment and implements, time study, and use of outstandingly planned functions (Huang, et al. 2013). Key principles of science ensure that employees and employers flourish to the maximum and ensure that every part of the business has grown to its high production state. It also ensures that employees grow to maximum efficiency hence high wages. Taylor argues that employees should be like operation machines to portray efficiency. A scientific theory explains that employees should be selected and trained scientifically to enhance profitability in the organization because a highly trained worker is equal to high-quality work (Oberoi, 2016). Scientific management has helped contemporary leadership in the organization, First, to choose the correct workers in the organization, training them to work efficiently hence achieving the required results. Secondly, scientific practices have helped the leaders to increase production in the organization (Huang, et al. 2013). It encourages the leaders to look at the organizational tasks scientifically and choose the best way to go about them. The scientific theory also helps create a good relationship between the employer and employee to increase production and motivation. Taylor explains that work should be distributed to employees as to what they qualify for. Therefore, employers should monitor employees’ performance keenly—finally, the division of labor among management and employees to improve production. Work should be divided as per workers’ performance and qualifications (Vecchiotti,2018). In conclusion, conclusion, the scientific management theory helps in contemporary leadership through its principles and concepts that ensure positive production and motivation between the management and employees. Situational approach defines that leadership should match their capability with those if the followers. A sharp leader is essential for he determine where followers will be in development and how they will adapt to the leadership style at hand.
