2.4 Assignment - Business Finance
Getting Started This week, you will continue writing the background section for each of your research reports. In order to successfully complete this assignment, you should be able to: Write the background section for two data sets. Resources Your most recent research reports File: Research Report Patients Background Information This is one of the more detailed assignments in this course. You will write a background literature review, detailed statistics, and descriptive statistics in the form of graphs for two data sets. Normal distributions and probability can also be used as part of the descriptive statistics section, which the example report did not show. See videos and practice files for any remedial training on those topics. Instructions Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade. Be sure to use your most recent version of your research reports. Study the Research Report Patients file. Fill out the Information and Literature Review section of the Project Background including the literature review, descriptive statistics, and graphs associated with the data set chosen to write about. In each of your reports, fill out the first analysis section, including any statistics and graphs and interpretation on the analysis. In each of your reports, fill out the second analysis section, including any statistics, graphs, and interpretation of the analysis. In each of your reports, fill out the third analysis section, including any statistics and graphs and interpretation on the analysis. In each of your reports, fill out the summary section, including any conclusions and future research that should be done. When you have completed your assignment, save
copies for yourself and submit a copy of each research report to your

PROJECT BACKGROUND
Purpose of the Study
Context of the Problem, Challenge Opportunity or Issue
This data set uses two different reigns of U.S. president. The first was president Clinton and
the second was president Trump. In 1996 President Clinton did well in the senate elections.
However, in 1999 U.S senators voted on the removal of President Clinton thus resulting in his
impeachment. In 2016 President Trump did well in the Senate elections but in 2019 Senators voted
on his removal (amstat, n.d).
Objectives of the Study
This study is aimed at analyzing the impeachment of each of the two presidents. Additionally,
the study also gives data on the percentage of votes that Clinton and Trump received in their
respective years of election in each state. The senator’s votes were divided in two categories, the
first is vote of article 1 (perjury) and vote of article 2 (Obstruction of justice). A census was
conducted and their data was incorporated in the impeachment process. Each senators vote was
analyzed and additional information was given like the year each senator is up for re-election, the
senator’s degree of ideological conservatism and whether they are a first term senator or not. The
study therefore gives a specific intel on the impeachment process of each of the two presidents
using the senator votes (census, n.d).
Limitations of the Study
It is fair to suggest that the study is a bit cumbersome since it included various variables that
dictate the impeachment of the two presidents. The study also only gives two accounts of
impeachment that include perjury and obstruction of justice. Since each senator’s vote counts the
population of people in their county is also included so the study makes it seem like a senator’s
TITLE OF THE PAPER
3
vote represents the vote of the whole county. However, this isn’t the case since each county had a
percentage of democrats and republicans.
Assumptions of the Study
From the data it is assumed that the information provided gives an actual representation of
the president’s rule and the reasons behind their impeachment. Additionally, the study shows that
a majority vote on the impeachment of a president shows that he is guilt based on the vote on
perjury and vote on obstruction of justice.
Significance of the Study
What are the goals of the Study?
The goal of the study is to first show how each senator of different states voted on the
impeachment of the president in 1999 and 2019. Different variables have been placed in the data
set like vote on perjury and vote on obstruction of justice for each senator. Moreover, the total
population of individual voters in each state is placed to show the majority support that each
senator had in 1999 and 2019 (census, 2019).
Significance of the Topic to the Writer
This study is important to me since I can understand the reason behind the impeachment of
president trump in 2019 and that of president Clinton in 1999. This study also gives me a
perspective on the total number of voters that each state had during the election of the impeached
presidents.
Significance of the Topic to Stakeholders
Essential stakeholders in this study include voters, senators and respective state governments.
It is essential to note that each of these stakeholders understand the importance of the study since
it provides valuable information of the impeachment of the two presidents.
TITLE OF THE PAPER
4
Broader Implications of the Topic
Industry implications.
On a general perspective the study tends to affect different industries including the media
industry who play an active role in presenting the data to the public. This information is essential
to them since it showcases their credibility in terms of information.
Global implications.
Each nation conducts elections for their presidents and at some point, some nations can
conduct an impeachment process for their presidents. It is essential to note that globally each
nation conducts the impeachment processes differently and thus this study is of importance
globally since there exist stakeholders either directly or indirectly involved in the impeachment
of the president and they can use this study to understand the data involved.
Information and Literature Review
Brief Summary of the Literature on the Subject
The research topic in this case is the impeachment of both Clinton and Trump and the relation
that both impeachments have with the total population of each state by the time.
Systematic Review of the Literature
Summary and Relevance of the Literature to the problem or questions
For each senator’s vote on the removal of the president based on the account of the two articles
of impeachment the variables are analyzed and show how they affect the final vote. The literature
provided as research on the topic is essential since it provides an analysis of all the variables and
the significance, they had on the data set.

Thematic Findings in Literature as Applied to the Topic
The main theme for this research is population census since it provides numerical data on the
total individuals available in a particular state. Additionally, impeachment is another theme since
it is a topic used in the study. The data set focused on the impeachment of both Trump and Clinton

Ethical consideration from the literature review.
From the literature in the study the main ethical consideration is that the information provided
covers major aspects of the theme but they leave out smaller aspects such as other votes apart from
vote of perjury and obstruction of justice.

PROJECT BACKGROUND
Purpose of the Study
Context of the Problem, Challenge Opportunity or Issue
“Healthcare is currently a major fiscal problem. If this trend continues to 2010 and
beyond then corporation managers will stop offering healthcare (some already have) to
employees, or they will keep passing along premium increases to employees as many currently
do” (Chandra, Kumar & Ghildayal, 2011, p.315). The cost of inpatient hospital care is under
scrutiny, from patients to insurance providers to government officials. With costs continuing to
skyrocket, it is more important than ever to understand the relationships between an inpatient
hospital stay and the costs associated the patient care. “The effective management of hospitals is
an increasingly political and social issue as demographic trends in the USA indicate that the
issues associated with better hospital management will only become increasingly important as
the domestic population continues to age” (Stock & McDermott, 2009, p. 142).
Objectives of the Study
By analyzing raw data collected in the hospital setting, we are able to describe the data in
terms of statistics and a visual exploration through graphs. We can also test hypothetical
statements and claims using the sample data.
Limitations of the Study
In the dataset from Freedom Hospital Geriatric Patients there appear to be anomalies.
Geriatric is defined as “a branch of medicine that deals with the problems and diseases of old age
and aging people” (Merriam-Webster, 2016). Once the dataset is sorted, twelve patients do not
fit the geriatric definition. If the dataset is a sample of all patients in the hospital and not
specifically geriatric patients, the information should be noted on the description for the dataset.
