Part 1: Trend Analysis Trends are changes to the market environment that are multiple environmental factors (PESTEL) which are working in combination to disrupt the status quo in the marketplace. To understand why a trend is occurring we need to analyze the influence certain conditions of the underlying environmental factors have in creating this trend. Trends exist in the strategic planning process between the environmental scan and the opportunity / threat analysis. For Part 1, choose one of the below Trends to Analyze. Then identify and discuss a minimum of three (3) environmental factors, either Political, Economic, Social-Cultural, Technological, Environmental, and / or Legal and how they influence the Trend. Research For the purposes of this Assignment, the supporting Research should be conducting primarily, if not completely, utilizing secondary research. Secondary research is the analysis of primary research already completely by a third party. In other words, it is not the intent of this Assignment that students collect their own data to analyze regarding the industry / business but to use research (secondary research) that has already been conducted by an authoritative third party to further analyze in context of the industry / business being studied. The Assignment requests a minimum of two (2) sources of secondary research. For this purpose, a source is defined as a specific third party who is cited as the authoritative third party. For example, if the student was to utilize the World Economic Forum as an authoritative third party for three economic conditions, two political conditions and one technological condition in the PESTEL Analysis, this would be still considered one (1) source. This encourages the student to seek multiple sources of information to ensure the information is consistent and validated as part of their Analysis. Part 2: Opportunity Analysis Identifying Opportunities is a significant part of a Manager developing a Strategic and / or Operational Plan. Where the organization might be successful in a competitive market requires research and analysis, not simply luck or passion. Many Managers and / or Entrepreneurs will pursue what they view as an Opportunity without true understanding, which can create future challenges and failures. For Part 2, identify and discuss (between 500 – 750 words) an Opportunity that you have discovered based on your chosen Trend above. This is a creative brainstorming activity. For this part, do not constrain yourself by things like are the resources or money available to implement the Opportunity.
