Your portfolio should evidence your learning, knowledge and skills in the following areas; 1. 2. 3. 4. An understanding of 3D animation techniques Practical skills in the production of 3D animation Collaborative creative practice using digital tools The social and cultural context in which animated texts are made and circulate. Process: Through lectures and guided learning, you will develop skills in 3D animation, a broad knowledge of production techniques and an ability to discuss animation referencing key media and animation theory. You will be assessed on your individual contribution to a group production as documented in your journal and reflective essay. Assessment brief: It is recommended that all learning is documented in a journal/blog format. This should include story and concept development, work in progress animations, leading up to your final animated video. The final animation should be a substantial example of animation, the duration will be project specific and depends on the chosen animation techniques. It is expected that individual contributions should be equivalent to minimum of 30 seconds and not more than one minute of keyframe animation. This duration is specified to ensure a high level of detail is attainable. The reflective written essay makes up the 70\% of the marks. This should link directly to an analysis of your production work and the wider context in which the work can be evaluated. A discussion of other animated works in your chosen genre should be used to contextualize your practice. The reflective writing should document your engagement with social and cultural debates around creative processes, film theory and embodied learning. It is expected that an understanding of the 12 principles of animation and other relevant theories will be evident in all aspects of the portfolio. You should include references to influential tutorials specifically related to the techniques you are using. All downloaded models, textures and audio should also be referenced.
