In the study of births variables such as length of pregnancy and the gender of the baby. The aspect of child birth is under close investigation and this study provides an overview of child births in the state of North Carolina. In order to know the child births in North Carolina the variables used are essential in knowing how the study relates with actual events. There is a big problem in the society concerning the birth of newborns thus the healthcare sector has the primary duty of ensuring that each birth is taken care of by understanding the relationships between variables such as Habit, the weight of the baby and the status of each mothers (Married or not). Objectives of the Study In 2004 North Carolina released a large data that contained information that concerns birth records of the state. This data set is of particular interest to medical researchers who aimed to study the relationship practices of expectant mothers and the birth of their children. A random sample of 1000 data sets were used for the study. The data set uses 13 variables which are used to depict the relationship between practices of expectant mothers and the birth of their children. For instance, though the examination of variable relationships such as habit and weight of the baby can be used to check if the habit of smoking affects the health of the baby. TITLE OF THE PAPER 3 Limitations of the Study From the study it is difficult to understand the application of some of the variables. For instance, age of the father. It is essential to note that data of the birth of children is essential for the study and the mothers involved thus making it difficult to understand the inclusion of the fathers age in the study. Since the data provides essential data showing the population - level of birth outcomes, questions about the reliability of the records still exist and this creates a doubt about the use of the data for further research. Assumptions of the Study From the data set that was released in public back in 2004 it is assumed that the data shows an actual representation of all the births in the North Carolina state. From the study it is assumed that all the variable included are related in some way. For instance, weight gained at birth is related to the habit of the mother. Additionally, the weight gained by the mother can also be relatable to the weight of the baby. Significance of the Study What are the goals of the Study? The objective of this study was to measure the population-level birth outcomes. What relationship does births have with the weight of the mother, their habits and the length of the pregnancy in weeks. By understanding such variables one can understand the ways in which a healthy baby is born based on the variables used. The study therefore establishes different variables that affect births in North Carolina. Significance of the Topic to the Writer I am interested in knowing the birth rates available since I can compare it to the total population in North Carolina. This topic gives me more information on the relationship that existed TITLE OF THE PAPER 4 in 2004 between the total population and the birth outcomes. Additionally, I would like to know how the relationships of variables affect the birth outcome. For instance, this topic assist me in understanding how variables such as habit of the mother affects each birth. Significance of the Topic to Stakeholders The most essential and directly involved stakeholders include parents, healthcare institutions and the government. The topic presents data that shows the level of investment that hospitals and the government need to have in place. For instance, the county government of North Carolina would be able to understand what share of their budget they can allocate for child welfare. Additionally, hospitals in the county can understand how many births they would have in their projected value using the data. Broader Implications of the Topic Industry implications. The healthcare industry is responsible for the provision of better care to patients. In this case, the industry has to focus on the delivery of children in a safe environment for mothers. The birth of children as proposed by the study is affected by various variables such as habit. This topic assists the industry in understanding the aspect of child birth. Global implications. This topic has a big interest on a global scale since different nations can project using their data the level of birth rates in different regions. This can allow them to invest in different sectors that are related to child birth. Additionally, by understanding the variables that affect the topic used in the study there would be a global understanding of how to make child birth better. Information and Literature Review Brief Summary of the Literature on the Subject TITLE OF THE PAPER 5 Information is provided concerning births. In this case, the data that involve births include various variables that impact the aspect of child birth. The analysis of the literature is essential for medical researchers who have a primary motive of understanding the behavior of expectant mothers and the birth of their children. A large data of about 1000 cases was released in 2004 in North Carolina. The data released sought to seek the reliability of birth certificate date by comparing them to data that is obtained from a larger prospective cohort like the general population. Systematic Review of the Literature Summary and Relevance of the Literature to the problem or questions This research is essential in providing information that concerns births and the state of women while giving birth to their children. The research objective that the topic aims to establish is the relationship between habits and practices of expectant mothers and the birth of their children. Thematic Findings in Literature as Applied to the Topic The main theme of research from the literature that has been applied to the topic is birth relations to other variables. Key definitions. fage - Fathers age in years. mage - Mothers age in years. mature - Maturity status of mother. weeks - Length of pregnancy in weeks. premie - Whether the birth was classified as premature (premie) or full-term. visits - Number of hospital visits during pregnancy. gained - Weight gained by mother during pregnancy in pounds. weight - Weight of the baby at birth in pounds. low birthweight - Whether baby was classified as low birthweight (low) or not (not low). gender - Gender of the baby, female or male. habit - Status of the mother as a nonsmoker or a smoker. marital - Whether mother is married or not married at birth. whitemom - Whether mom is white or not white. TITLE OF THE PAPER 6 Ethical consideration from the literature review. There are numerous variables in the research. For instance, there is a variable called whitemom and what this means is to check if the mother is a white person or not. From an ethical perspective this is wrong since it appears that the study is basically targeting white mothers and disregarding mothers of other race like Black, Hispanic and Asians. Descriptive Statistics Type of variables in the data set. fage - Fathers age in years. mage - Mothers age in years. mature - Maturity status of mother. weeks - Length of pregnancy in weeks. premie - Whether the birth was classified as premature (premie) or full-term. visits - Number of hospital visits during pregnancy. gained - Weight gained by mother during pregnancy in pounds. weight - Weight of the baby at birth in pounds. low birthweight - Whether baby was classified as low birthweight (low) or not (not low). gender - Gender of the baby, female or male. habit - Status of the mother as a nonsmoker or a smoker. marital - Whether mother is married or not married at birth. whitemom - Whether mom is white or not white. Descriptive Graphs TITLE OF THE PAPER 7 weight 14 12 10 8 6 4 2 0 0 10 20 30 40 50 TITLE OF THE PAPER 8 PROJECT ANALYSIS Analysis of the Literature Review Research Findings Simple Linear Regression Analysis What is the relationship between Mage and weight? weight 14 12 10 8 6 4 2 0 0 10 20 30 40 50 The graph shows a linear regression analysis of Mage compared to the weight. This shows that there is no relationship between the two variables. TITLE OF THE PAPER 9 PROJECT SUMMARY Conclusions From the research it is easy to note how the variables that affect child birth are related to each other. For instance, there is a relationship among variables such as low birth weight, weight and habit. Specific Recommendations The first recommendation for the research would be the collection of diverse data that will assist the set to have more information for all the involved stakeholders. Suggestions for Future Research More variables could be added to the study to assist in making the research more accurate to all the involved stakeholders. This aspect will provide accurate investment in all valid sectors that can assist child birth. Ethical considerations It would be wise to consider more inclusion of race in the study. The study shouldn’t just focus on white mother and non-white mothers. The study should have a broad inclusion. For instance, it should have included black mothers, Hispanic ones and Asians. This aspect will give a detailed perspective of different races and the birth rates in each of them. TITLE OF THE PAPER 10 References openintro. (n.d). NC births.
