Assignment Brief and Guidance:
Scenario:
Oman Cables Industry (OCI) is one of the major power cable manufacturing company in Oman.
The manufacturing facilities are located in a factory area of 1, 35, 000 Square meters and having
yearly installed capacity of 75,000 Metric Ton.
OCI is an international brand and products are marketed in the gulf countries, Jordan, African
countries and so on. For the last five years, company owned “Best Industry”, “Flame of
Excellence and Export of the Year” awards confirmed by the His majesty of the Oman.
Oman Cable Industry has engaged over 700 employees of all types of skills and competency and
company is constantly putting its best efforts to upgrade the skills which can opted to
technology, equipment and materials development, innovative manufacturing methods and
competent quality products.
The OCI has excellent organisation structure with highly qualified and experienced professionals
in management and operation systems. The line management covers most of the functional
areas of the management and they believe that human resources are success factors of the
company’s operation.
The company gives due importance to employee relations in respect of influencing HRM
decision making and they meet all the employment legal compliances which impact upon HRM
decision making. OCI has well designed application of HRM practices in work related context in
job description, person specification, standard job resume format, and standard job offer letters
and so on. They have developed appropriate rationale for the application of specific HRM
practices like performance appraisal, exit procedures, job rotation and on the job training
The key internal and external factors that affect HRM decision making like adoption of user
friendly technology in certain operational areas of HR management and out sourcing of
recruitment and selection tasks. The functions of HRM practices including applications of
employee relations practices and compliance of employment legislations are being implemented
committedly in the OCI organisation.

Keeping in view of the above application and implementation of HRM practices, task
responsibilities have been entrusted to you to implement appropriate employee relations and
application of employment legislations and at the same time to illustrate the application of
