Reflect on the work completed in this course and answer the following questions:What were the biggest challenges you faced during the workshop process? What were your greatest successes? What do you still feel you need to work on as you work towards completing the final project in the course? Identify one strategy you learned from the course readings that can help you improve your writing technique or writing style choices for the final projectShowing that you know and understand counterarguments to your position on a topic strengthens your argument in the eyes of your reader. It demonstrates that you have done your homework and considered all sides of an issue before establishing a position and offering a solution. GuidelinesImagine that you have been asked to present your argument at a conference on your paper’s chosen topic. Then, imagine a few scholars in the field who disagree with your claim are present in the audience. Additionally, during a question and answer session during the conference, consider two scholars countering your paper’s position. Let your readers know what their arguments are and work to convince the audience that your position is the stronger one or that your solution is the better one. Both sides will have merit, but help your audience understand why your claim is the more logical and reasonable one. Create a PowerPoint presentation containing at least 6 slides that uses words, and images. Develop two of the strongest scholarly counterarguments against your paper’s claim (2 slides for each argument).Convince the audience that their claims are weak, based on the research you conducted (2 slides). Do not demean the opposition, call them names, or directly attack their positions. If your argument is truly the stronger one, it should stand up against fairly presented academic research. eng_101arguementive.docx Unformatted Attachment Preview Running Head: HOMELESSNESS 1 The solution to the Problem of Homelessness in my Neighborhood Name Date HOMELESSNESS 2 The solution to the Problem of Homelessness in my Neighborhood Homelessness is a pressing issue in the 21st century. The number of people suffering from the issue is ever rising hence creating the need to bring the issue to an end. The homeless people are those who lack a place they can call home and lack good shelter to live in. The primary solution would be formulated through the enforcement of policies that will promote the efforts to end homelessness in the neighborhood. This will be the best move to ensure that the issue that is becoming a calamity is lower, controlled and solved. According to Cunningham, (2009), prevention and end of homelessness require taking steps that will; folic on the long-term benefit and solution towards ending the problem that has become a hard issue ion the society. In this case, the author suggests that the public policy on affordable housing investment program needs to be effected to ensure that the homelessness prevalence and cases are set on a declining trend. To support the argument, Cunningham (2009) explains the way public policy can be applied to ensure the desired result is achieved. Having permanent solutions towards the issue will be more effective on the neighbor as it will allow the poor in the society to also acquire homes that they can afford. Many of the affected families are generally affected by the issue as they cannot afford the current proves of renting poor buying a home. One significant aspect I believe is essential is a focus on why the cases of homelessness have increased in the neighborhood in recent years. First, the economic crises oppress the poor hand such that they end up not afford to pay for their houses rent and other possible house expenses. Ahis has rendered many into the states, including their children. Most economists argue that the possibility of changes to the case will not be better in the future as they predict HOMELESSNESS 3 hard economic times in the future (Timmer et al., 2019). There is a lot of pressure that affects the affected families leading to loss of hope of regaining houses. Secondly, the natural calamities are hard pressing to many families that have so far trend to other neighborhoods hence ending up in homelessness crisis. Calamities such as hurricanes have been a major contributor to such cases. Despite the presence of the federal and state departments concerned with such calamities and resettling of the affected persons, there has never been a permanent solution. Therefore, the challenge never ceases from haunting the affected persons. Understandably, there are several efforts that the government has put in place to ensure that affected persons do not end up in a homeless situation. However, there are still limits to acquiring the state-sponsored housing program. According to Cunningham (2009), for every four victims, only one qualifies for the housing benefit. Thus, the program has not adequately solved the issue altogether. Apart from the homelessness situation itself, the affected persons also face other issues that come along with the situation. In this case, mental health is severely after by the case of homelessness. Cunningham (2009) claims that a significant percentage of homeless persons are affected by disease issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. Subsequently, this lowers the mental cognition of the homeless individuals leading to the deterioration of their health. The actions needed are simple in the case where the policies support them. The governing body needs to address the issue through the formulation of the policies that will create a guarantee that the homeless are well supported in the neighborhood. Hence, this will need to create new houses that will expressly be set as a housing program that benefits the homeless. To their favor, they will be offered the houses at lower rent prices than the current in the market to HOMELESSNESS ensure that they can afford and regularly pay (Ravenhill, 2016). The policy also needs to document homeless persons in advance. Consequently, this will help to ensure that other people do not take advantage of the program at the expense of the affected persons who have no shelter in the neighborhood. Since the project will take time to complete, the policymakers also need to create a temporary solution that will ensure that the homeless persons do not continue in the same state until they are resettled. Thus, they can set funds to build transitional houses that will house homeless people temporarily. Moreover, it will help to create orders in the neighborhood, and I believe if the plan is well followed, it will solve the pressing issue of homelessness. 4 HOMELESSNESS 5 References Cunningham, M.
