We can start by using multiple sources. For example, using both quantitative and qualitative data can help ensure we have all the information needed to come to an informed decision (McLeod, 2019). It is important to research data from multiple different points of views. Also, understanding how the data is collected will ensure the data is ethical. For example, the data collection process will need to be consistent to present accurate outcomes (Stojkovic, Kalinich & Klofas, 2015). I will take specific steps to assess employees performce. Of course, I would ensure the employee is fulling the requirement outlined in their job description. However, it is also to assess how the employee works with others toward the mission of the organization (Stojkovic, Kalinich & Klofas, 2015). This information can be gathered from supervisors, peers, or feedback from people outside of the agency. I would consider the training and resources that have been available to provided to the employee to ensure they are received the tools they need to succeed within the organization. Lastly, I think a self-assessment can be useful as well. This gives the employee the opportunity to express areas they are proud of or any concerns of weaknesses. This can be an effective strategy for outlining the employee’s goals in the upcoming years. To communicate finding to a variety of audiences I would begin with face-to-face communication. This can be done through departmental meetings, trainings, or both departmental and public presentations (Stojkovic, Kalinich, & Klofas, 2015). This will provide employees the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback or recommendations for changes or implementing changes. Once I have finished the face-toface communication, I would follow up to all employees in writing. This can be done through email or a memorandum of understanding. As a leader my main method to collect valid and reliable data would be to utilize supervisors in place and their evaluations of the employees. Of course, it would be a requirement for the supervisors to remain impartial in their assessments of the employees in their direct supervision and to be inclusive, I would ensure employees are setting goals that they are working to accomplish throughout their employment. The evaluations are beneficial because they ensure employees are meeting standards in place and also display areas that may need improvement. For example, if the evaluations are consistent that majority of the employees need additional training in public interactions, this allows leadership to develop a program/training that will assist in that specific field. The best way to assess performance of the employees will also be the supervisor evaluations and to allow the employees to “grade” themselves. Comparing both assessments displays areas that are agreed upon and areas that may require additional assistance. This also assists in opening the doors of communication between leadership and employees. I’ve learned that is also crucial for employees to be able to notify leadership of areas they are able to improve in because it assists in building the companies overall moral. To communicate the findings, I initially feel it is best to address individuals one on one with their own assessment plan but to gather all the information obtain and call a team meeting to follow up with an online training. Having individualized assessments plans ensures that you are meeting each employee needs and better allows management to track the overall progression of that specific employee. Gathering all the information from individual assessments allows for the company to set goals that fit their employees.
