Week 1- Discussions Reply - Business Finance
1. MATTHEWThe idea of being called to a purpose is the fundamental driving force that keeps many people motivated to continue living out their daily lives. That is the basic principle of what being called for a purpose means to me. In the Bible, there is one specific part that comes to mind when the idea of being called for a purpose is brought to my attention. A third time the LORD called, Samuel! And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, Here I am; you called me. Then Eli realized that the LORD was calling the boy (1 Samuel 3:8). Now, Samuel was given to the Lord as Eli blessed a woman named Hannah to be able to have children as compensation for the blessing. This is sort of a parable to how most of us find our calling in life.Samuel’s calling was not even known to him at that time until many years later as he realized he was a direct servant to the Lord. This is how most of our callings happen as we are not really aware of it at the time, but as time goes on it becomes clearer to us as we live out our lives we find out what our role is. In my eyes, the way this correlates to healthcare transformation is based on the simple order to us to be fruitful and multiply. Humanity has to be alive and well in order to serve is the most important part of that transformation. Transforming our society into having a dependable healthcare system for all is a great way to ensure we have as many opportunities to fulfill all of our individual purposes that completes a much larger picture of our goal to be the image of God. We all cannot exactly fulfill our purpose by dying for the collective sins of humanity like Jesus had to do, but we operate in a dualistic approach by living out our lives to honor what others have done so that we may live. The relevance to the transformation of the healthcare system is quite intricate to describe to say the least when connected with purpose. The main issue in complexity is how much different everybody’s purposes may be as in the example of Jesus and Samuels’s purpose when contrasted with humanities purpose. In order to sustain humanity the transformation of the healthcare system over hundreds of years has been one of the most detrimental parts especially when a person realizes that almost every President of the United States has had some sort of healthcare reform plan. That by itself tells me how important the constant improvements of the healthcare corporations have been over the last several decades.2. DESTINY When I hear the terms being called to a purpose, I think about someone fulfilling their destiny in life. As we all know that Jesus led many people with his purspose in life being to help others. My favorite story in the bible is when God helped the blind men to see. Though God was denied and often ridiculed about his work in life, he still provided help to those in need. In anything we do in life, whether it is helping others or fulfilling our careers in healthcare, we must do it with a Godlike mindset. Knowing that no weapon formed against us shall prosper should be enough motivation to want to continue to prosper in life.I have always wanted to learn about the healthcare field since a young girl. My grandmother was and still remains my biggest motivation to want to help others. Seeing her help others as a Registered Nurse for over 20 years, ensured me that the healthcare field is just where I needed to be. Also, as a young child I would often like to give back and help in my community as best way possible. Even as an adult and after obtaining my BA in Child Development, I knew there was more to my purpose than that. Also, my keen knowledge of the basics of healthcare provided from my grandmother is a part of me being called to obtain my degree in this field. Healthcare is a provided service to help individuals and the community at best. As John 3:17 reads, But whoso hath this worlds good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?. We must remember that healthcare has always been and will always remain relevant in Gods world. Also, we must have compassion for all in all that we do in this field of study!3. JESSICAI believe Christian healthcare administrators have the power to use their position to expand their influence on the lives of their patients, the attitudes of their coworkers, and the environment within their workplace. I believe inspiring patients to build a healthy relationship with God will assist them during the process of coping with different illnesses, pain, and life stresses they may experience. Christian healthcare administrators can influence patients to let go of stressful situations they cannot change and allow God to take control and handle it for them. The environment of health care delivery will continue to remain fluid and dynamic (Shi, 2015). I believe a Christian healthcare administrator has the power to positively influence their work environment during the many changes the healthcare system may go through. A Christian healthcare administrator can use their position to influence their coworkers to include God not only in their personal lives, but their professional lives as well. By accomplishing this, coworkers will create the opportunity to build great relationships with each other and create a healthy work environment that would allow them to give the best attention and service to their patients.True wisdom comes from God. As a Christian, you are called to practice biblical principles to fulfill the purpose God installed upon your life. Exodus 18:20 King James Version states, “And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.” Teaching others about God and his Holy word can be effortlessly accomplished particularly by individuals who are comfortable in their spirituality. Christian healthcare administrators can utilize their beliefs to not only spread knowledge of God but use the same philosophy to help coworkers or patients obtain the same understanding and teach them how to use it in their daily lifestyles. Christian healthcare administrators who are comfortable with their spirituality tend to have a more positive outlook and a better quality of life, which can consequently influence others to maintain the same lifestyle over a period of time.4. MATTHEW The real detrimental aspect of expanding Christian healthcare influence is based on a complete misunderstanding about what it means to be a Christian on a fundamental level by people outside the faith. The misunderstanding that I encounter the most is a perceived notion that if a person identifies with being a Christian that the person is automatically perceived to be in a better standing than other people that may not identify with religious backgrounds. The other real big issue is that many people misrepresent what it means to be a servant of Christ and use that as a license to sin as the person is free with Christ type of mentality. The misrepresentation of what a servant is and avoiding people that do not believe in the same principles is the compounding problem that hinders influence. These two issues are two direct betrayals of the faith and obstructs influence in the Christian healthcare system.Paul had to confront a member of Christ’s inner circle for avoiding people who do not have the same principles as Peter, but are all still human beings. When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised. But afterward, when some friends of James came, Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore. He was afraid of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision. As a result, other Jewish believers followed Peter’s hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. (Galatians 2:12-13). Paul actually started out persecuting people of Christ as he thought they were a threat. Now, Paul is one of the most phenomenal leaders the faith has ever witnessed and that is the type of influence that should be striving for with people outside the faith.A deeply practical understanding of the faith and what it means to be a Christian is where people can overcome this hurdle of slowed influence. When a person looks at an actual Christian the real reaction should be that this person is going to serve rather than look down on them. Redirecting current trends in how the faith is practically perceived by people who do not believe in the same thing is a great place to start.
