I do not want to find myself like many around me with a career that is draining and depriving of the ability to work effectively. This let me think about the importance of choosing a professional career that I will enjoy doing and enhance my personal and skills development. Throughout my 9 year and plus of attending college on and off I always had a feeling I wanted a career in the medical fields however I was not certain of which major to pursue thus I based my studied courses such as psychology, anatomy & physiology and world studies that would translate into any career in the medical field. my life up to this point has been working dead end jobs such as Walmart security and housekeeping to make ends meet with no satisfaction what so ever. My career revelation did not occur until after my volunteer as a inpatient and outpatient volunteer services at Visiting Nurse Of Philadelphia, and speaking with OTs who have been in the field did I decide this was the path for me. Being involved in the patients daily activities whether it be bed change, daily walks, or games. Although, working as a security officer was away from the field, but it built the feeling of giving, and the interesting point was watching student behavior and drafting reports at Temple University Medical Services, and this enhances my problem-solving skills and the urge to study and gain more knowledge in the medical field. It also helped me to read more about various behavior models, interventions. This also let me think about my life and how the years have passed without me achieving what I did want, jumping from one job to another only to seize any working opportunity. I have chosen the field of occupational therapy (OT) continues to offer an endless platform of creativity and flexibility. Providing support to people, particularly the ageing population whose health limits them from doing the activities that matter to them is the general aim and purpose of this field. Cross-referencing from the presented resume, I like to work with people from a diverse cultural background as well as assisting them to get better services. The occupational therapy field generally is for those who personally like to think outside the box and always interested in assisting people henceforth this would be a great fit for me as I believe embody these elements.
