Recommendations - Information Systems
Skim all of the work you have done so far, consider the criteria provided, and produce a draft recommendation report. The report should be in the range of 1,800 words (roughly 5-7 pages in length.) The time required to do this research and write up this deliverable should take at least 10 hours. a. Skim all of your previous deliverables. b. Reflect on the discussion and any insights you may have gained and key lessons you have learned from the in your program. c. Craft the deliverable addressing each of the items listed above. d. Reflect on what you have produced. Does the deliverable you have produced truly demonstrate your capabilities? If you are not proud of this work, take more time and refine/polish it. Your deliverable for this week is a Potential Recommendations based on your work to date. The following are the criteria you should use as you craft your recommendation: · Recommendations logically relate to the strategic issues you identified in your analysis. · Recommendations address the opportunities and threats outlined in your contextual analysis. · For internal projects, recommendations leverage the internal strengths of the organization in question, and they minimize the influence of the organization’s weaknesses. · For external projects, recommendations leverage the opportunities presented by underserved niches and communities and they minimize the influence and impacts of competitors. · Recommendations are feasible. Your recommendations should contain the following elements: Summary of your problem or opportunity definition. 1. A list of possible recommendation alternatives. In this section, you are not yet at the point of suggesting the best set of recommendations, but you are trying to be creative and explore all the different ways that the problem or opportunity might best be addressed. You need to produce a list of alternatives among which you will choose your final recommendations. 2. Describe each feasible recommendation and your initial thinking about the reasons why each is acceptable. 3. Refine the metrics introduced and explain how they would measure success. Running head: PROGRESS REPORT 1 PROGRESS REPORT 7 GRADUATE CAPSTONE PROJECT PROGRESS REPORT Student’s name Institution affiliation Name: Report Date: Project Title: Faculty Advisor: Activities performed and results produced Literature reviewed listing key points found Book 1 On the discussion, there are key insights that I have learned and gained and key lessons learnt from the course in the program. The first thing learnt is the importance of the production department in any activity being carried by any organization or company. The production department, plays a very significant role in the acceptance of the goods and services that are being produced by the organization. In trying to understand therefore the problems that the organization being looked at in this case is facing. The production sector or department helps in fully understanding the full concept and position that is needed to be taken to allow for one to understand any problems that are related to product acceptance in the market place. (Mayfield & Mayfield, 2019). Book 2 Another key insight learnt in this cases is the impact that the organization management has in the process of trying to solve any issues seen in the organization. The willingness of the management in trying to solve the issues seen in the organization will determine the success of the whole process. If the management is reluctant, then in most cases the problem will persist and the same will still be a problem in the organization. The management therefore will help in determining the extent to which the problem will be solved or not solved. (Meyer & Goes, 2017). Book 3 Another key insight and lesson learnt in this course is the fact that in the process of determining as to why the product is not being accepted in the market looking at the internal structure and departments of the organization, the human resource department will help in understanding this problem. The human resource department is the one that is obligated in vetting applicants that are to be absorbed by the organization, the human resource department therefore will help in this since they will provide the standards and the requirements needed for one to be absorbed by the organization. If the human resource department does not therefore look at these requirements to the fullest and ensure that every employee who is absorbed meets them then in most cases this will bring problems that are associated with product acceptance in the market. (Wieczerniak et al., 2018) Experiments conducted list key insights In the process of looking and trying to find the main cause of the problem that the organization being discussed have, there are surveys and interviews that were carried out in different departments and different stakeholders that helped in trying to explain and understand this problem. Interview 1 The first interview that was done was on the production sector of the organization, the interview was aimed in understanding the process that are taken in producing the product that the organization is selling and in the process identifying the possible reasons and to why the product is not doing well in the market. In doing this, the head of the production department was the one who was interviewed and the interview was done in the production industry. This helped in demonstrations of how each production process was being carried and this helped in identifying any faults that might have been seen in the same. The key insights learned from this interview is that more than 50\% of the production process and activities are done manually by the employees in the company and therefore this means that there are possible errors that can be made when one does activities manually rather than the activities that are done by machines or electronically. Interview 2 The second interview was done on the suppliers as the key shareholders of the organization. An interview was choosen to be done on the suppliers due to the key role that they do on the supply chain and they are the ones who directly link with both the customers and the company and therefore they are the ones who would help in identifying the sources of problems that might be the ones that are causing the product not to be accepted in the market by the customers. This interview was had to do since identifying and finding the suppliers while you need them is a big task since they are always on the move and therefore getting them and isolating them to give you the information that is needed for the completion of the project is hard. However the interview was carried in the trucks that the suppliers do supply the organization products to the customers. The key points learned from this interview is that, the suppliers get a hard time in the process of getting and delivering the products to the customers, the process of acquiring the goods from the organization is considered to be long and therefore in some cases the products arrive late to the customers and this makes the customers to be disappointed and end up seeking alternative options of acquiring the same goods from other suppliers. Survey 3 In order to understand the problem that the organization was facing with its products being not accepted by the customers, the project had to carry out a survey in trying to understand the different customers that the organization has. In looking at the customers, a survey was carried out in looking at the different demographics of the different customers of the organization. This included understanding the specific age group of the customers who buy the product that the organization is selling, the education level of the customers that would possibly buy the products. The survey carried also aimed at looking at the nationality or the race that do prefer the product that the company is selling and also the possible religion of the people who prefer the product. The key findings that the research came up with is that, the customers of the company who do buy the product are evenly distributed across the different age groups, the survey also found out the when it comes to the sex, women prefer the product more than men and this is the factor that the organization did not consider much. Also. In looking at race, ethnicity and religion the customers that the company was serving were equally distributed across all these demographics. The survey gave helpful insights Data you want but don’t know how to get Item 1 In order to understand the real problem when it comes to the issue that the organization is facing, it is always important to access and know the financial reports and revenue that the product is creating currently compared to the revenues that the same was generating initially. Financial statements are therefore very critical information that would help a lot in understanding the problem. However, getting this information is in most cases very hard and the organization chooses to keep its financial statements confidential and therefore this information would be hard if not impossible to accesses and thereby help in understanding and possibly knowing the root cause and the providing possible ways of preventing these issues from rising. Item 2 In trying to understand the reason as to why the product is not being accepted by the customers, it is important also to look at the employees who are involved in production of the said product. In as much as the whole process of carried out explicitly and in a good way, in some cases the way the employees are motivated will determine how the product will be produced and whether the employees will be doing their best to produce the best product. To understand this therefore it is important to look at their salaries and their allowances and see if the source of the problem comes from them being poorly paid. However, to get this information is in most cases impossible to get since the organization prefers to keep the information between them with the employees confidential. In order to access this information, high level clearance is needed and getting this sometimes is impossible unless the leaders of the company through the Chief Finance Officer gives one the needed credentials to access this information. This is therefore one of the information that I need and which I don’t know how to access the same from the organization. To do list In order to fully understand the problems that the organization is facing in trying to understand the problems there are still things that are needed to be done for the proposal to be fully functional and to have had looked at all areas fully. Some of these to do list are experiments. Item 1 One of the thing that is still needed to be done is to interview the individual employees in the company. Interviewing them will help in understanding the different faults that are probably seen by the employees but are not communicated. Interviewing the employees would help a lot in understanding the problem from their perspective and this will in the long run help in identifying the problem being faced by the employee that might lead to being the reason as to why the product is not being accepted by the customers. Item 2 Also interviewing the individual customers in the supply chain would help understand the exact reason as to why they are preferring not to buy the products that the organization is producing. Combining these different viewpoints of the different players in the distribution and production of the product will help in understanding the main issue that the organization is facing as per the contextual analysis done in the proposal. Item 3 Another item that should be looked at in this proposal and that is not yet tackled is the issue on the requirements that are needed by the company for an applicant to have before being absorbed to being a worker of the said organization. These requirements are needed to be looked at when and if they are provided by the Human Resource department. After accessing this document that has all the requirements of the different employees that the organization has, a survey will be done that will aim at cross checking the qualifications that the different employees who are already in the organization have compared to what that the company requires them to have. Some projects are usually carried out as planned but end up failing terribly. In every project, there is the stakeholders as well as decision making. When the management of any project does not involve the identified stakeholders associated with the given project because different types of projects have different types of stakeholders then it may fail. When the wishes as well as the concerns of the identified stakeholders are not put into consideration by the given management then failure is realized. The book is highly vital in offering a robust as well as a comprehensive comprehension of the key significance associated with the business ethics as well as sustainability and the aspect of stakeholder management from a powerful managerial perspective. It is vital to have ethics as well as the right set of sustainability strategies in any kind of previous that stakeholder management can be an easy tasks. This helps in balancing as well as in the protection of the various interests regarding the various types of stakeholders inclusive of the investors as well as employees and even the general environment. This resource offers knowledge on the manner in which powerful and comprehensive decision making skills along with Capabilities are specifically essential in project and stakeholder management. Experiments conducted list key insights Survey done The identified stakeholder definition in general terms usually comprises of stakeholders as being individuals or even institutions who are highly invested in a specific project as well as who are impacted by this kind of project in a way as well as their identified input possesses a direct effect on the upshot of the given project. Identification as well as the comprehensive understanding of stakeholders is key to success in any project. In order to understand the different types of stakeholders that are present, a survey was carried out on selected companies globally for enhanced efficiency as well as feasibility of the study. Despite the fact that there are different kinds of stakeholders, they are all equally vital and need to be involved if they impact or are impacted by the project. From the survey, it is evident that there are four different types of stakeholders that are widely and commonly known. First and foremost, there is the users as the stakeholders. Users are defined as being the stakeholder kind of individuals who will utilize the identified products regarding the given project or even the program. They are considered to be the beneficiaries regarding the given outputs. They can be the identified clients who are very vital group of stakeholders or even another type of internal department. The second type of stakeholders is defined as the governance. These are defined as being the individuals or even the groups of individuals who possess an interests in the manner in which things are usually managed on the given project or even Programme. For instance, the identified management boards or even the steering groups would be considered to fall under this key category as they often possess the job to effectively monitor the identified quality regarding the given project as it develops as well as to offer advice and even guidance in the entire course. In this category of governance, the identified stakeholders usually belong to the identified auditors as well as regulators and even the health executives. The other key category is considered to be the influencers as the identified stakeholders m influencers are the key individuals who possess the capability to impact decisions as well as the capability to alter the identified direction regarding certain projects or even program. In the identified group of the influencers as being stakeholders belongings to the trade unions as well as lobby groups as they are identified for being in possession of the skills and the ability to influence the track of a project and in the protection of the identified outcome. Lastly, there is the providers as a form of stakeholders. As it would be anticipated, suppliers as well as the vendors usually fall under this type of category. More particularly, the job of a supplier is involved in supplying to an identified company. Moreover, the identified group of the providers can be involved in covering a high number of profiles also inclusive of the business partners as well as the temporary contractors , the catering staff and any other individual involved in the provision of resources to the identified project or even program. The survey also revealed that many cases whereby a person or even a group may be considered to be falling into more than a single category. Understanding this is vital in shaping decision making. Interview done The interviews were carried out on different managers in different companies in the US and the key aim was to have an understanding of the key principles that should be used by managers in stakeholder management. Most of the managers reasoned on the use of the Clarkson principles which will be discussed here. The principles are seven in number. The first one is that the identified managers need to acknowledge as well as actively monitor the identified concerns regarding all the legitimate stakeholders and need to consider interest of each one. Secondly, there is the need for the managers to listen as well as openly communicate with the identified stakeholders on their concerns. Thirdly, there is the need for the managers to adopt various processes as well as modes of behavior which are considered to be sensitive to the various concerns as well as capabilities regarding each of the stakeholder constituency. The fourth principle is associated with the need for the managers to recognize the identified interdependence regarding efforts as well as rewards among the given stakeholders as well as need to attempt to attain a fair level of distribution regarding the benefits and even burdens associated with corporate activity among them while putting into consideration their identified risks. The fifth principle is that managers need to work cooperatively sixth other type of entities for insurance of risks. The sixth principle is that managers should avoid any kind of activities that are involved in jeopardizing the inseparable human rights. The last principle is that managers need to acknowledge the potential types of conflicts between them and the stakeholders. Data you want but don’t know how to get Data on some aspects that are essential is key but it becomes hard to attain knowledge on the manner in which to get it. Data on the manner in which to enhance increment of the stakeholder happiness as well as at the same time enhancing maximization of business and project value is key. It helps in identification of the key steps needed to achieve all this in the most appropriate way without any kind of issue and in ensuring success and efficiency at the same time. This type of data is easy to get especially when it comes to the key steps that can be used in achievement of success and efficiency in the whole process but when it comes to dealing with individual stakeholders and how each can be satisfied and be made happy while not compromising the satisfaction of the other one then it becomes a big issue. To Do List: Literature research remaining The Literature research remaining is on the difficult stakeholder and the key reasons as to why they are considered to be difficult and how this can be handled effectively. A difficult type of stakeholder is defined as the type of stakeholder who can see effectively via the actual intentions of the given project. They give a hard time especially if they realize that what is being said is not the right thing and this can be hard to build trust with them. This makes it highly vital to have the right steps to deal with them and building trust with them thus the need to have literature research on these key aspects for enhanced efficiency as well as success. Analysis and other work remaining The other work remaining is gaining the right practices on influencing other people since stakeholders are people. Influencing other people is considered to be indispensable to the appropriate type of leadership. One of the most essential qualities associated with leadership is striving for the capability to impact the Stakeholders. The benefits associated with being an effective influencer is considered to extend well beyond the identified professional experiences. To be a good influencer there is the need to analyze the unhappy stakeholders and what makes them unhappy. 2 Name: your name here Running head: PLAN 1 PLAN 2 Plan Student Name Institution Affiliation Plan I am looking forward to accomplishing the data collection task for my project and this process requires much effort and preparedness. The data collection methods that I will use include the questionnaires and interviews targeting the IT staff in five organizations within my community. There are various items that I need to accomplish the assignment, and this include sourcing the information about the appropriate time that I would get the staff to interview and also the procedure needed to book an appointment with them. The process looks simple, but most times the staff has work to attend to. The information that I also need is to know the organizations time that the staff might be free to assist in collecting data about their operations and issues of cybersecurity. In addition, I need to research about the best way to develop the relevant and impressive questionnaires that would assist in having the best feedback that is necessary in getting the findings that I needed for the project (Blankenship, et al., 2019). The development of the questionnaires that is the structure of the questions and also the questions necessary for the interview and this would ensure that I have a perfect survey process that would give credible and trusted primary data. I would also consider having an alternative especially when I find that an organization cannot allow researchers into the facility during this time of the pandemic as a way of protecting their staff from contracting the disease. An online survey would help much in minimizing the cost of travel and also guarantee that I would finish the task based on the timeline. However, I would interview two staff members per organization and that means that I need various copies of the questionnaire and interview questions. The interview questions would be necessary just specifically for physical interviews when the companies accept my appointment to visit the facilities. At the end of the week, I would be having all the needed data for the project. The barriers that I might encounter are the failure of the organization management to approve my appointment targeting on interviewing the IT staff. The other barrier is the failure of the participant to respond to the online questionnaires or even responding to them late would interfere with my plans and objectives. The final barrier that might affect the assignment is the participants offering irrelevant data in the questionnaires or even lie about issues that are in the public domain making the research to lack credibility.
