It was identified on January 7, 2020 and 3 short months later was a full pandemic on March 11,2020. The virus comes from a large family of viruses that causes illness from common cold to more severe diseases. The novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain never seen in humans before. Country United States United Kingdom Describe the policy in each country related to the identified healthcare issue The federal government has unveiled guidelines for opening up America. The guidelines are not followed well. Some states are making their own rule that are then followed through by counties. The CDC has put out guidelines that are have good hygiene and if you are sick stay home. When in public area people should wear mask and social distance (The United States The policy for the UK is stay at home unless for a specific purpose, avoid meeting people you don’t live with, close gathering businesses and venues (Cabinet Office, 2020). Wedding and funeral can only have a maximum of 30 people and must be in good health (Cabinet Office, 2020). Cafes, restaurants, pubs, and social clubs will be closed unless they offer click and collect, drive-through, or delivery (Cabinet Office, 2020). Schools will remain open at this time (Cabinet Office, 2020). What are the weaknesses of this policy? The citizen in the U.S. don’t follow the guidelines and there are no consequences. The weaknesses of this policy is allowing children living or in a supporting bubble with elderly people be in contact with other children. The policy list that the a mask is to be worn in enclosed areas and in well populated areas they should be worn at all times because passing someone in closes proximity when passing them. Now rates are rising again and safer home is coming back into effect. The policy of safer at home has impacted the up rise in covid in the last few months. But reopen and the colder the temperature is the more immune systems were compromised the rise of covid has gone back up. From experience and working in an ICU we are overworked and ill prepared for what we are dealing with. The hospitals are over ran and understaff. The impact Covid has made on the role of nurse has put an extreme amount of pressure on the on the UK healthcare system (Buchan and Shembavnekar, 2020). The nurse force has dropped due to the amount of nurses that international travel, they are 15\% of the workforce (Buchan and Shembavnekar, 2020).
