Henly Rojas    Marlaine Smith’s Theory of Unitary Caring   I can comment that nursing theories play a vital role when it comes to providing care services, as they offer essential points that focus on nursing practices, providing us with essential information when it comes to understanding processes such as the Pandemic related to Covid-19. This pandemic has affected nursing practice in a revealing way. Due to the problem related to the pandemic, there is a high demand to use nursing theories with the purpose of eradicating said pandemic. Since its emergence, Covid-19 has caused anguish and panic and countries have been creating strict measures to combat it, such as the implementation of mandatory quarantines and limited travel to control and limit the spread of said virus. The nurses are in the first line in the fight for the treatment and eradication of this disease. The efforts of the nurses have been focused on trying to save the lives of people admitted or who present the virus and also to try to keep people who do not present it safe. Marlaine Smiths theory of unit care plays an essential role in helping to develop a framework that could represent the origin of offering comprehensive care to our patients and healthcare providers. The theory focuses on the assumption that care is in the middle of all health-related practices and is integral to renewing health outcomes.   One of the principles of the theory is to state intentions. Smith consistently believes that nurses have the foundations to create an environment that ensures the recovery of a patient through thoughts and intentions that are changed into actions. Because of the pandemic, the reflections of our patients are based on panic and fear. That is why nurses can alleviate these fears by offering an environment in which patients can feel safe and relieved, resulting in better results obtained from the treatments. Likewise, this theory is based on the concept of assessing patterns. The theorist argues that it is vital to appreciate inequalities in patients. In this regard, the pandemic has affected too many people. Many are in forced confinement, others are voluntarily in isolation and fear is a general feeling in all individuals since this evil affects everyone equally. Despite this, nurses must know how to distinguish the individual characteristics of each patient.  References   Smith, M., & Parker, M. (2014). Nursing theories and nursing practice (4th ed.). F. A. This theory embraces diversity and complexity of caring, and thus provide patients with the services needed to improve quality and efficiency. Has strong connections with principles of clarity and transparency. Also, caring is aimed to a way of sustaining wholeness and setting the course for healing as the main nursing goal. With the introduction of the meta-analysis the quality of services increases and nurses can develop a depth understanding of nursing process. The somewhat formalistic approach to care, which the focus on meta-analysis suggests, is balanced with the emphasis on addressing the emotional needs of a patient and creating a bond between them and a nurse.            Applying this theory to the COVID 19 pandemic we can ensure that the benefit of establishing a close bond with those affected and family members is invaluable. Those individuum directly or indirectly affected by the disease can experience emotional stress, shock, and compromise of rationally thinking, then support and understanding are required. Using this approach an open conversation can be promoted having the opportunity to address cultural and psychological aspects of care in order to overcome the trauma. Showing empathy serve as a platform for promotion of a positive outcome. Validation of feelings and helping the expression of emotions aided to avoid depression or more dangerous behaviors. Bottom of Form Amniellys Rodriguez Nursing Theory Today, the emergence of a consumer-oriented model of patient care makes it imperative for healthcare practitioners to embrace change, especially during this pandemic. Thus, Barrets theory of power is in line with nursing practice because if nurses are to offer patient-oriented care, it is essential to remain open to new possibilities. These possibilities become apparent if one employs the powerful energy of the will in changing through various principles of reversing (Smith & Parker, 2015). Barrets theory echoes Marlaines argument of unitary caring because when nurses remain open to new possibilities, it is possible to know the patient and human health, which makes it possible to offer holistic care that is associated with positive patient outcomes (Dossey, Keegan, & Barrere, 2016).
