Usage of Cell Phones Should Be Limited
Although many individuals believe that access to smart phones is a right, having a phone is a privilege. There are certain moments when eliminating that privilege could be the most appropriate thing for teenagers and young children. Parents should be on the watch for signs and symptoms that their children’s phone is interfering or affecting their grades, behavior, overall everyday functioning, life and other activities. There is no doubt that mobile phones form an essential element of an individual’s life in contemporary society. Most individuals feel lost when they lose their smart phones or forget them since most people spent a reasonable amount of time glued to their phones (Gemmi). Although smart phones possess some attributes that make life easier in different ways for ordinary individuals, there is an argument that limiting phone usage may indeed be beneficial. Parents, guardians and teachers should limit cell phone use because internet addiction is a dangerous thing. It interferes with children's behavior, family life, and social life, affecting school performance and offers them free will to see something they cannot see.
Parents, Teachers and guardians should limit cell phone use because internet addiction is a challenging issue in the contemporary world. Young teenagers who naturally focus on withdrawing from their parents mostly find the internet as the appropriate facet to escape. The more they rely on it, the more dangerous it is for them to find a way to sue it often (Marshall). However, internet addiction may start interfering with their lifestyle and course of life, making it challenging for them to concentrate on schoolwork, socialize, and interact with family members or friends in real life. It quickly switches from an entertainment tool to an addiction that can have real consequences and negative implications on individuals' lives (Marshall). Limiting cell phone usage is an ideal way of preventing internet usage from growing into an addiction problem.
Nothing is frustrating and devastating than walking into a room m where children and their friends are sitting and seeing them staring at their phones in silence. Suppose children or any other individuals remain glued on their phones for an extended period. In that case, they may fail to develop the capacity to interact and relate with others without the technological barrier (Marshall). For children and teenagers, this can become a severe debilitation when they become adults. Encouraging children to keep their phones somewhere and communicate and talk to each other may help them build the required social skills and increase their chances of bonding as a group (Marshall). Limiting phone users may also help them to strike a conversation on specific topics, which may help them develop life skills in real life.
It is easier for many people to withdraw from family members when they can take their phones and interact with their friends or strangers. If any family members notice that one of them is busy on their phones during dinner time, while watching a movie or playing games, it is high time that their phone usage is limited (Marshall). Failure to set these regulations in the family early can make it challenging to enforce them at a later stage. Besides, the failure to encourage the child to interact with the family may also play a crucial role in setting a divide between the teenager and the family members challenging to cross. In other words, increasing phone usage is slowly interfering with the once cherished family time (Marshall). Whenever kids and children fail to retreat into their phones, chances of striking a conversation, open u-p and respond to questions are high (Marshall). Nonetheless, if children feel that the only way to solve their problems is to take their phones and converse with their friends, they will lack an apparent reason to talk to their parents (Gemmi). By reducing their phone usage, teens may find the time and become more likely to strike a conversation with their parents about their needs and want instead of relying on their friends or people outside their family.
The internet has little or no regulations in some countries. The capacity to access the internet via cell phones implies that they could see and do things that parents or teachers do not want them to see. However, since it is on their phones, the parents may have little or no control. The activity on the children’s cell phones is challenging to monitor, and this implies that the parents may fail to protect children from such issues unless they concentrate on limiting their cell phone usage (Marshall). The lesser the time children take on their phones, the fewer opportunities to explore specific internet areas that parents want them to be protected. For instance, phones may offer other people unlimited access to a teenager. If parents fail to limit the cellophane usage among teens, the people and strangers they interact with over the phone may access my personal information about them. The strangers may also encompass people that parents hate having access to their child’s arsenal information, strangers, and hackers, among others (Marshall). Besides enlightening children about the dangers of internet predators, limiting cell phone usage implies that the parent can restrict or control strangers' ability to contact and find their child, potentially resulting in harmful implications.
When parents limit children’s phone usage, they reinforce their authority. Some parents may not think that it is essential for children to view them as authoritative figures in the family. However, for their growth and safety, it is crucial. Children who feel that there is no punishment for their actions or there are no implications for their efforts will mostly try riskier and engage in risky behaviour to get the parents' attention (Marshall). Establishing a limit on phone usage for children plays a crucial role in laying very concrete baseline regulations and ensuring that they are obeyed. This is a relatively reasonable and straightforward way that apparently can use to enforce home rules and act as a rule-maker in the household.
The opponents of limiting the usage of phones argue that they are not just phones. They offer children magazines, electronic dictionaries, novels, maps, musical and scientific instruments, reference books and other learning materials (Gemmi). Banning or limiting phone usage may also hinder the children’s capacity to monitor and control their future behaviour. By the time children reach high school or elementary level learning, they should all have developed appropriate action to help them be responsible for themselves, turn in homework, and understand their limits (Park and Ye Rang, 147). Many people feel that it is high time that parents and teachers release their grasp concerning limiting phone usage. It is the teenagers' responsibility to learn about the consequences of remaining glued on the phone for long spells. Children may not comprehend the implications if they do not understand by themselves, which refutes the ideology of limiting phone usage.
Suppose children or adolescents rely on their phones as an educational or learning tool, communicating with teachers or other school-going children, or frequently relying on new online media. In that case, people may fail to assess their implications effectively. Besides, the use of a Smartphone for learning purposes may be beneficial for children (Marshall). However, if they focus on their smart phones for many hours, viewing social media portals, advertisements, films, and worthless memes can cause devastating implications for children (Gemmi). Under such circumstances, there is a need to limit Smartphone usage by teenagers and children by teachers, parents, and guardians.
In conclusion, parents, guardians and teachers should limit smart phones' employment because it results in internet addiction, interferes with individuals' behavioral and social life, and family life. It can sometimes impact the performance of children in school. Most parents, when they were growing up, had no personal devices. Although a family may have a personal computer, very few or no one possessed a cell phone, and this implies that no one owned a Smartphone used in accessing the internet. However, considering the negative implications of the internet on the children’s behavior and social life, there is a need to limit the usage of cell phones among them to avoid affecting their relationship and personal experience in the future
