Due to the covid-19 epidemic, the fitness industry has undergone significant changes over the last one year. The workout community that this write-up will discuss is the hyper-Connected Gyms. Hyper-connected gyms have the aptness to bring the gym experience to the client, irregardless of the restrictions that the country may be having. The hyper-connected gym is one aspect that brings comprehensive experience to the client through a personalized fitness experience; it also gives the customer convenience and flexibility to carry out personalized workouts at the comfort of their homes.
Community or Organization of Interest
Hyper-connected gyms refer to gyms that have the capability of going to the client virtually. This technique of fitness has become popular recently as a result of the Covid-19 epidemic. The global pandemic that has affected many people has greatly seen a transition in the use of electronic devices. With the pandemic, accompanied by the increased use of electronic devices, it has become easy for many people to choose hyper-connected gyms as their new fitness plan. In the past one year, many organizations have launched fitness applications that customize gym workouts to the person’s capabilities and goals (Schmaltz, 2019). This technique has given many customers the aptness to not only carry out fitness workouts on their own time but at the comfort of their homes.
Current Trend
One of the key trends in the gym industry is hyper-connected gyms. People have learnt the importance of workouts in keeping fit and reducing lifestyle diseases. People who were already active in gyms also want to continue with their fitness goals without going to crowded gyms. Although the pandemic has started to slow down, some people have now started to re-enter public gyms, while others have opted to remain at home and use hyper-connected gyms. Most traditional gyms have also updated their existing technologies so that they do not lose customers (Gregory, 2012). Whether it's the ability to listen to music, watch videos through YouTube, Skype with friends and instructors, or even use workout machines incorporated with games and other graphics, gyms have upped their technology "bar." The future of the fitness industry can be described as “hybrid” and how operators will continue to improve their services to meet customer needs will dictate the next phase in the fitness industry.
Health and/or Fitness Problem in That Community or Organization
The inability to have or access a personal trainer can be associated with many drawbacks or challenges. First, the absence of an instructor means that the customer or client will work out without taking any precautions, which may lead to accidents. A trainer is meant to help the client carry out an objective workout or encourage them throughout their workout. Covid-19 pandemic saw the closure of many traditional gyms across the country, meaning that people had to carry out personal workouts at their homes without any trainer observing (McQuarrie, 2015). This was a challenge to many customers, especially for those that are medically prescribed. Other clients also felt discouraged from completing or continuing with their workout sessions.
Why this trend is appropriate for this organization/community
Given the current state of the country, with the continuing pandemic, this trend seems fit for the general public. Most people are hesitant to work out in overcrowded gyms, and the only solution is to work out on their own, with or without an instructor. When it comes a time when the pandemic will be over and people will no longer have the potential to spread the virus through surfaces; traditional gyms will be ready to serve the needs of the people. This is why hyper-connected gyms are the only visible solution at the time (Connor, 2021). The hyper-connected gym gives the customers the proficiency to not only carry out fitness workouts on their own time but at the comfort of their homes.
User of this current trend/issue to benefit this community/organization
Several benefits come with a hyper-connected gym. Even with the country's current state, many people are still interested in continuing with their workout sessions to achieve their fitness goals. Fortunately, a hyper-connected gym allows the customer to achieve these goals without much struggle. This can be achieved through maintained programs that allow the customer to connect with the trainer virtually. This technique also gives the trainer the capability to coordinate multiple clients at a go, especially if he or she is demonstrating a special training technique. With a hyper-connected gym, it means that people won’t be restricted to a certain room or a certain number (AJMC Staff, 2021). The virtual experience gives people an opportunity to take a class simultaneously, making the session even more engaging and lively. Hyper-connected gyms also allow gym owners and trainers to keep their doors open even as the country is undergoing a transition. It is also an opportunity for trainers to reach more customers or clients at the same time.
