Broward County in Florida is one of the healthiest regions of Florida in many aspects. For example, smoking, drinking, and physical inactivity are under 25% which is not alarming; it means that 75% of the people of Broward are physically active and responsible for taking care of their medical needs ("County Health Rankings & Roadmaps", 2021). Hence, these medically responsible people will foster homes for children that will grow to adopt the same habits, and so on.
However, a specific health concern that alarmed me is the rate of sexually transmitted infections in Broward County. Statistics specify that 585 of 100,000 people are victims of sexually transmitted infections. While this seems to be a positive number, it is not, because the average STD in Florida is 499 per 100,000 ("County Health Rankings & Roadmaps", 2021). This shows that Broward County has significantly higher rates of STDs in Florida, which suggests that STD is on the rise in this region.
The creation of a community health center program may help address this public health problem since STDs can only be controlled using prevention, not cure. STDs such as chlamydia and gonorrhea can be avoided using ‘barrier’ modes of contraceptives, but STDs herpes, genital warts, and syphilis can be spread from skin to skin contact making them more dangerous (Samkange-Zeeb, et al, 2011). The community health center program will have the following objectives:
1. To spread awareness about the risk of catching an STDs
2. To convince the community to use effective contraceptives
3. To encourage discussion about sexual health in the youth
4. To provide adequate health care to those in need of it
5. To diagnose for dangerous STDs that can not be avoided using contraceptives
As a nurse practitioner and leader, I think I can bring innovation to the health center program by becoming the voice of the youth. Young adults are usually shy and coy talking about their sexual experiences, mostly because they fear being judged upon and ridiculed (Wadham, et al, 2019). I will adopt a caring, open-minded attitude and utilize patient psychology studies to develop a relationship with the young community, which will enable me to address their sexual health concerns and discomforts much more effectively.

Adult Obesity
Adult obesity is one of the health issues that is on a rise in the Florida, United States, especially in the Hamilton County, which is getting worse for this health issue. A significant percentage of American adults from this region are suffering from obesity. In the United States, the issue of adult obesity has increased from 28% in 2014 to 30% in 2018 ("County Health Rankings & Roadmaps", 2021). Florida State has also witnessed a significant increase in number of adult people suffering from obesity. The total percentage of people affected has increased from 26% in 2014 to 27% in 2017. The health issue of adult obesity has become a pandemic in the Hamilton County as the number of adults affected has grown significantly from 34% in 2014 to 40% in 2017. Statistics shows that about the half of the adult populace in Hamilton County is suffering from the health issue of obesity.
There is no single solution to the health issue of adult obesity, as it is a complex problem. Solving the issue requires a multifaceted approach that incorporates the effort many people such as policy makers, healthcare professional, and community leaders who care work collaboratively to create a supportive environment that encourages healthy lifestyle behaviors among the Americans to prevent obesity (Hayba et al., 2017). Implementing a community health center program that support adult care, provides food service venues, and actively engage community in various physical activities can play significant role in addressing this issue of adult obesity. Nursing professional can play a leading role in addressing this issue of adult obesity. For instance, nurse leaders can play a significant role in influencing health policy in region that supports community health in general, such as policy that allows all adults to have access to health care services (Hayba et al., 2017). Nurses can also play leading role in implementing educational and awareness program that encourages American adults to adopt healthy lifestyle and to remain physically active.
