Creat the story like this assignment
That sounds like an amazing trip! I hope I can visit Greece one day. Since this trip lasted a while, you won't be able to cover the entire trip. Instead, pick one moment on that new year's that you remember most and go into a lot of detail. perhaps you could show us the moment where the hosts smash the pomegranates. i.e.
On New Year's Eve, after lunch, Zoe, our Greek hostess called us all into the living room. My parents and I emerged from the bedroom fully dressed for our night out. I wore... and my parents had on... as we intended to go out in later that evening. "What is it, Zoe? Is everything okay?" my mother asked. "Yes, yes," Zoe replied. "come with me. you must help me with our traditon!" My mother gave me a look with raised eyebrows. I shrugged my shoulders having no idea what was happening. I wiped my sweaty palms on my trousers and followed Zoe to the kitchen. The kitchen large and open with ... (describe setting). In the middle of the table was a bowl of pomengranates. I got excited because they are my favorite and I thought we might be getting a snack. Zoe motioned toward the table. "Now, each of you take a pom and bring it to the front door." "The front door?" I asked. "Aren't we going to eat them?" "No my dear, we are going to..."
So on and so forth...see what I mean? I would write the entire 700-1000 words just on this moment. think about showing it to us as if it's a scene in a movie. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
1-remember that we want to start in the action--in the middle of the story--avoid general intros.
2-1.2 this was probably a trip that lasted several days so you'll want to choose one specific moment of the trip and really describe in detail. what was the best moment? pick something and focus on that.
New Year’s Eve To Greece With My Parents in 2018
My parents and I decided to celebrate our eve holiday in Greece just to have a different experience from the one we were used to back in our place. We settled in Kavala town and we had the great experience starting from the cuisine, the cultures of Greece people and their interactions and how they valued the upcoming day was something I had never experienced before. It was evident that New Year’s Eve in Greece was one of the most acknowledged official holidays like other parts of the world. My parents and I noticed the nation and its people are so passionate concerning their culture and the customs that is why there are numerous New Year’s traditions for the holiday called Prothronia.
The people put their importance on the fireworks which showcase full glitter and magic which light up the sky across the nation in many cities and villages on every first night of the year. After we interactive with the natives, they affirmed that nothing can beat watching the fireworks which light up the Parthenon on Athens’ Acropolis Hill. We also witnessed Greek residents especially those from the city and other urban areas embrace new year by decorating their homes with colorful lights, Christmas trees and other holiday displays. Even, close family and friends celebrated the day by exchanging valuables and other significant gifts to mark the day. The gifts are exchanged just like Christmas and they wrapped so well to enhance curiosity.
Consequently, we also made observations on how Greeks make New Year’s Eve special with their numerous steadfast traditions, superstitions and symbolisms. For instance, the family that hosted us had smashed a pomegranate on the threshold. They explained the mystery behind it which involves a sign of fertility, prosperity and regeneration. It is one of the Greek’s major tradition since the times the natives had to hang pomegranate in their household above the main entrance of the house. Some would smash the fruits on their threshold to get extra good luck. So the summary of the whole event was to invite prosperity and abundance in the family. Moreover, in the entire neighborhood had baubles that displayed the fruit year-round.
I also learned that majority of the families celebrate New Year’s Eve with the all their family members with feast dinner as media houses commence their shows from afternoon’s till dawn. One interesting thing I realized Greeks do involved their participation in New Year’s national lottery by state television channels as the citizens wait for midnight. My parents and I also happened to enjoy Greek sweets for Christmas treat and we concur they are extremely delicious and fattening. Some of the sweets I tasted includes snowy kourabiedes which are Greek Christmas cookies that contains almonds and drenched powdered sugar.
Even, Melomakarona which are also sticky-sweet cookies that are soaked in honey with a spicy hint of cloves, and diples, with thin strips of dough folded and fried prior being sprinkled with chopped nuts and honey. I participated in one of the television lotteries by buying a New Year’s lottery ticket. I intended to try my luck since the channel had promised the winner a huge sum of money, but I do not what happened later for I become nervous and I could not go through with the lottery. However, I was assimilated since it was hard to notice if I was a non-Greek. Both my parents and I enjoyed every activity in Kavala and Greek customs during the New Year’s Eve and the whole experience was amazing.
